Celia Belt was awarded the 2018 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Texas Daughters of the American Revolution Twin Creeks Chapter, NSDAR, for her service to the military burn survivor community.
The honor is awarded to two individuals each year who fulfill the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism. The DAR "Distinguished Citizen Medal" is awarded to emergency first responders, active duty military and veterans of the United States Armed Forces, and citizens who have contributed to the defense and security of the community, state, or nation in an exceptional manner.

Public Speaker and Moonlight Fund Co-Founder Celia Belt, Presented with the "Woman In Leadership" Award During San Antonio Business Journal's Annual Women's Leadership Awards Luncheon
San Antonio, TX, August 30, 2016 – Public speaker and Moonlight Fund director Celia Belt was one of fifteen San Antonio women leaders recognized during the Annual Women's Leadership Awards hosted by the San Antonio Business Journal on August 25 at the Sonterra Club in San Antonio, Texas.
According to the San Antonio Business Journal, "The Women's Leadership Awards luncheon recognizes the region's most influential women. Nominees represent women from every industry and profession who have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for the rest of us, and are leaving a mark on San Antonio." Women who were recognized included physicians, attorneys, non-profit leaders, and major company CEOs.
"I am extremely humbled to have received this award, and I feel blessed to have been recognized among fourteen other incredible women across all professions," said Celia Belt. "I am in awe of all their accomplishments, and I was excited to celebrate our great city and the amazing talent within it."
Celia has been a leader in the non-profit world for the last 20 years and has dedicated her life to helping burn survivors and their families. Through her successful charity, the Moonlight Fund Inc., Celia has helped more than 5000 people across the country, including burn survivors, their family members, and families that have lost loved ones to a burn injury.
As a public speaker, Celia has addressed audiences nationwide, not only the burn survivor community but also women's groups, military leaders, and health organizations. A burn survivor herself, she shares her story with her peers and audiences with the hope of inspiring individuals who may be struggling with injuries or a tragedy. She also strives to educate other charity members about the non-profit world and has mentored women looking for guidance on a personal and/or professional level.
Celia believes that to be a true leader, it is important to stay grounded, always strive to be the best version of yourself, and, most importantly, share your story with others and lead by example. She explained that "being in a position of leadership is a gift, and gifts are not worth having unless you can share them with others." She knows that a good leader shares all, expects much, and derives great joy from benefitting those eager to learn.

Moonlight Fund Received the Highest Honor and a $25,000 Award at the 2012 Newman's Own/Fisher House Awards at the Pentagon.
Celia Belt received the Fisher House / Newman's Own award on behalf of the Moonlight Fund in recognition of the charity's healing retreats and the positive impact they have had on injured service members and their families. Read more here.
